Essex Let's Talk resource

Our joined-up approach to support the SEMH of children and young people.

A common language of emotional wellbeing and mental health

Discussing mental health should be a positive experience and, if done well, can reduce the stigma associated with mental health difficulties.

Our Let’s Talk resources are our way of using a common language and understanding of SEMH to support our children and young people.

Early Years and Childcare Charter Project Group

Dear Parents/Carers,

Our school is a member of the Early Years and Childcare Charter Project Group for Essex.

We are pleased to be working with Speech and Language UK to offer a free 2-hour virtual session via Zoom for families and carers in Essex. This session will focus on supporting children with social communication challenges, helping families understand and respond to their child’s needs more effectively.

This session has been very well received in the past, and we are excited to offer it again. Please share this opportunity with families and carers details are below and image is attached. Together, we can support the development of social communication skills in our young children.

Supporting your child with social communication challenges

This workshop is for you if your child has a social communication challenge (with or without a diagnosis of autism). Learn more about social communication skills in young children and how they develop, how to help your child (18months-5 years of age) if they are at a very early (or pre verbal) stage of development, strategies that work well to support social communication skills at home and resources you can access.

Written and delivered by very experienced speech and language therapists and advisors for the children’s communication charity, Speech and Language UK.

Friday 12th December 10am-12pm.

This is a virtual session and will be delivered via Zoom.

Please register your interest by emailing: Julie.hall@essex.gov.uk

Please note there is a limited number of spaces.
